Jessica and Juki Sews

I am absolutely thrilled to introduce my very first guest blogger.  Jessica lives in the Scottish borders with her husband and two young boys.  She sews with an industrial Juki sewing machine and shares her makes on Instagram at https://instagram.com/jessiandjukisews?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Jessica and Juki Sews

First I would like to say thank you to Dymphna Jane for giving me the opportunity to be a guest blogger. I have never written a blog before so here it goes.

I first started sewing 3 years ago I borrowed my sister’s sewing machine to mend some curtains and I got the bug. I started sewing bags for myself and Christmas sacks for the kids. I was getting ideas of Pinterest and using YouTube videos to teach me new techniques. Which I did on and off. In February this year I got a job as a machinist making curtains, cushions and blinds. I have never made curtains before or used an industrial sewing machine. So was a big jump, but good to learn new things. I am still learning, but really love what I do. Nice to be taught by someone instead of the Internet.

Then in May I was lucky enough to get an industrial sewing machine. To help me practice at home and gain confidence. Which gave me the idea to set up an Instagram page called jessiandjukisews. So glad I did nice to meet other people with the same interests. Also all the inspiration you get seeing other people's makes.

I don't just sew I also cross stitch I got a kit last year when on holiday just to have something to do in evening and I got hooked on them I did a few small ones while plucking up the courage to do a big one my brother got me 4 years earlier. I had looked at it a few time but just thought it would be too difficult to do. But I finally did the cross stitch which was a Cavalier King Charles spaniel that looked like my dog that I had when I was younger. She's now in a nice frame in my living room.

So that's me and my journey so far can't wait to hear from the next guest blogger. Thank you for reading.
