Introducing Wolltraum

I am so lucky to do what I love every day, I love sewing and knitting and crochet and being surrounded by beautiful threads and gorgeous yarns is such a treat. One thing I have been passionate about as I have built up my shop, is to bring quality and range to you. I want tools you can trust, threads of brilliant quality with a huge choice and now I am absolutely thrilled to be the UK stockist of the fabulous Wolltraum Yarn from Switzerland.

If you haven’t come across Wolltraum before you are definitely in for a treat. Wolltraum translates into "Wool Dream", and these yarns really are dreamy! My Melodyy Yarn from Wolltraum is 50% Cotton and 50% Acrylic - this yarn is so soft and breathable, has a wonderful drape and is suitable for creating nearly anything.

The Bobbels themselves are gorgeous – almost too beautiful to use. Each bobbel has a charm tied to the start of the yarn in the centre, I love the charms, it’s a lovely touch. And that is one of the things I love so much about Wolltraum, it’s such a community of crafters and brilliantly supported by Sarah, the owner of Wolltraum. Wolltraum was founded by Rita Suhner, Sarah’s Mother, and Sarah continues with her Mother's dream to this day to make beautiful yarn bobbels with stunning colours. Wolltraum is Sarah'a passion and it certainly shows in her beautiful yarn. There is a fabulous fan group on Facebook from Wolltraum, it can be found at

This is such a lovely friendly group, there are beautiful photos of stunning makes, a selections of patterns available in the files sections and lots of help and advice from the members of the group.

Wolltraum yarn is wound by hand with different coloured threads. The yarn has really long colour transitions creating the amazing gentle colour change effect. The gradients are created by the new colour strand being joined in, this is done with a tiny little knot which can be worked into your project and is completely invisible. The fine strands are multiple wrapped so each of the single strands are lying next to each other and not twisted. The completed Bobbels are stunning and perfect for special projects or are a beautiful gift.

I have used Wolltraum for a long time and I’ve made loads with it and each time I am amazed at the difference this yarn makes to my project. It is truly stunning. I made a huge double bed size blanket a few years ago, using 2 of the huge 500g 4 ply cakes. I had one wound from dark to light and the other from light to dark. I started at the centre of the blanket with the dark to light bobbel and worked my way out to the light, when this bobbel ended I joined in the light to dark bobbel and carried on ended up with a dark border on my blanket. The actual blanket is a granny square, so really as simple as you could do as I wanted the yarn to be the star - the finished effect is stunning. I have also made wraps and shawls. I am currently making another huge blanket using 2 of the 500m bobbels. I think my next make will be a top. Wolltraum is perfect for shawls, clothing, tops, beach cover-ups, scarves, blankets and so much more.

I am building up the range of the fabulous Wolltraum bobbels, grab a cuppa and cake (I would) and pop over to
